I'm a newbie with Android and don't know much about it. I have been looking for this subject all over the place and have found no solution.

I have had the "Screen timeout" set at 5 minutes but if I was on a call, the screen just got locked immediately after I approached the phone to my ear. This was really bothering me. I tried setting the "Screen timeout" to 10 minutes; I tried turning off the proximity sensors under "Settings -->Calls"; I even turned the Security off so this would not bother me.

I finally got something to work because I need to have my phone password/pattern protected at all times. I used the "Lock automatically" option under "Security". If the phones turns the screen off automatically, it will not ask you for the password/patern but until the time limit you set under this option to. This option does not work when you lock your phone manually with the Power button.

I hope this helps everybody who's going thru this trouble.
