Galaxt s2 gingerbread update

Hi ive just got a used galaxy s2 given to me from a friend who has upgraded. It was originally on the 3 network but is now unlocked. He did a factory reset before giving it to me. It is currently on the gingerbread version of android and when I go to check for updates it says no updates are available. Can anyone help me with what I need to do to update it to a later android version please? Thanx in advance

Welcome to the forums! Never heard of the 3 network. Is it a pre paid?

Hi Slender Troll, thanks for the link, but I already tried doing it that way and it is saying no updates are available.

Thank you for the welcome GolfDriver, no it isn't pre paid, it was originally locked to the 3 network, but it is now unlocked and I am using it on the Virgin Mobile network.

Your exact model may not be supported anymore. Flashing any Galaxy S2 ROM will brick the device.
