If you look at the pic on the invitation it talks about an "evening" event and shows what looks like a night sky with twinkles. I know we only have to wait 1 day until the Att/Samsung event but this newly announced event may have just revealed the U.S. S2 announcement 1 day earlier.

I'm envious...........

This is actually exciting for the people on other carriers waiting for this handset. Its now just a matter of time before the wealth gets spread around.

Yezzir! So if the original S was announced in the end of June and dropped 2.5 weeks later, I wonder if the s2 announcement on the 24th would give it a mid June release. Not trying to turn a snowball into a boulder here. I'll probably set aside my extra money next check :]

If the Samsung Galaxy S II rollout goes like the Galaxy S rollout in 2010, it will be:

5/24/2011
US Launch Event

6/8/2011
T-Mobile 15 days later

6/11/2011
ATT 18 days later

7/25/2011
Sprint 62 days later

8/2/2011
Verizon 70 days later

9/20/2011
US Cellular 119 days later

Note that the delays could have been due to any number of factors with the carriers. The only model that was widely different from the rest was the Epic with the slide out keyboard.

The 2010 Galaxy S rollout time-line was:

Code:
                   Event FCC Available
Korea 3/23/10 4/8/10 6/25/10
US Launch Event 6/30/10
T-Mobile Vibrant 6/28/10 7/14/10 7/15/10
ATT Captivate 6/18/10 6/11/10 7/18/10
Sprint Epic 6/28/10 7/20/10 8/31/10
Verizon Fascinate 6/28/10 7/14/10 9/8/10
US Cell Mesmerize 10/27/10

With word of Samsung eventually wanting to move to an all screen (s3) galaxy, would you consider the overseas s2 a step closer or a step further from that goal? Would you also still get the phone if it was announced at this event to come to us with the same cosmetics as the Europe and Asia version and not our standard 4 capacitatives?

Not saying that it couldn't turn out like this, however, I have a strong Irish feeling that the Galaxy S2 will launch on AT&T first, followed by; Verizon, Sprint, and finally, T-Mobile.
