since day one, users were able to access the Android/data directory to manage app backups and files. Some of my apps use this directory for backups. So along with the other disappointments I have with this UI 3.0, android 11 letdown update, they now no longer allow file browser access to this directory. Wonderful move....

I think Solid Explorer can also access the directories, but Total Commander is completely free.

If you flip the switch for "Show Hidden System Files" do any good for you?

Yes that was the first thing I tried. It didn't work for me. There is another way I found that displays some of the DATA directory, with FX Explorer it's found under SYSTEM icon, then DATA/DATA. But the view only shows whats there, the folders cannot be opened. I contacted the developer of the app I need retrieve the backup file from and he said it can simply be accessed using USB cable and PC. Sure enough, all folders are accessible using that method.
