I am coming from a Note 3, so I don't know if its a S10 thing or this happened sooner, but I can't seem to find a music player on here? On my Note 3 I had a samsung music player for playing mp3s I had on my phone. Is that not a thing anymore? Am I just going to have to find a new app?

While there is a basic music player included (if you were to try to play an MP3 file from the File Explorer, for instance), you can download the 'full fledged' one form the Galaxy Apps store. Just search for Samsung Music and you're done! Samsung decided to remove a lot of apps so that you could choose what to install and what to uninstall. Since the vast majority of people stream these days instead of playing local files, the Music app is one of those that got relegated to an optional download.

Samsung has a deal with Google to use Google music as the default player, think they started with the s8. I really like the Samsung music player but I can never get the Samsung app to play music downloaded from Google music (music I own, not from a subscription).

This is why I love microSD cards.

I also love and prefer Samsung Music player. I miss it when I upgrade.

Not sure about the 'deal' (it's Android, so... Google), but no music player would play music downloaded from Play music on your device as those files are encrypted. To play those locally you need to download them in MP3 format on a computer (or forcing Desktop mode on a mobile browser).

As for the Samsung Music Player, no need to miss it... It's right there, just needs to be downloaded.

Actually there was a deal made, Google Play music is not the default music player in most phones unless it's a pixel, here is a quote directly from Google's blog post about it -

"Starting today with the launch of the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+, Google Play Music will be the default music player and music service on new Samsung phones and tablets globally. We’re also collaborating with Samsung to create special features in Google Play Music just for Samsung customers."

Yeah, that was 2 years ago. I believe Spotify is the preferred music service now. But if you have downloaded music, Samsung Music app is your best bet. You can play MP3 files with Play Music, but I have found its not exactly a seamless experience.

You're better off with poweramp app if you want advanced music features. There is a trial version in the play store.

Yeah, not sure whether Spotify or Play Music is supposed to give me the "best" experience anymore. I wish Samsung would make up their minds.

Spotify is strictly a streaming app. Play music does both stream and play stored files. Other standalone music players just play music. Those are the three primary options....it's up to you to decide which provides the best experience.
