Just got the phone today, but already having issues with phone calls. I made test calls with my best friend who's also on T-Mobile ( iPhone), and my mom. My best friend said she could barely hear me, and that she could hear herself back, and so did my mom. Anyone else have this issue? Does it warrant an exchange?

The S10+ is a great phone. Lemons happen with any type of product. Take it back & exchange it. Don't hesitate. Not worth it for a brand new phone.

You need to run more tests. Call another s10 plus user on t mobile for example. With wifi calling on and off. Try calling me.

Also did they activate a new sim or did you just use the one you had from your old phone? If the latter have them activate the sim that came with the phone.

I had an echo & feedback problem when my husband & I both had the s9 series on T-mobile. The problems were corrected after a couple of system updates. So I would try installing all your updates through the May security patch, then clear your cache partion. Test again.

Is your s10+ unlocked? If so, you'll probably only get updates through the April patch. Carrier devices are just receiving the May patch. I did notice that my Husbands Unlocked s10+ signal is not as strong as my locked T-mobile phone signal.

Apparently, Best Buy charges a restock fee even for an exchange, which I find odd, but yeah. What's weird is, once I opened the packaging, I did notice that the seal on the phone box itself was broken. My device has an April 1, 2019 build date. I thought it would be "newer" than that.

I popped in my existing SIM card, yeah.

Yeah, the phone is unlocked and updated to the April patch.

I'd try a factory reset if you haven't already done so to rule out software glitches from a bad update.

Is that something they do for unlocked phones? I've never bought a unlocked phone, I just know for carrier phone you can exchange under warranty with no restock fee. You only get charged a restock fee if you return the phone.

All open box phones. Carrier & unlocked, except for the states listed at the bottom of the screenshot.

But if the item is proven to be defective, there should not be a restocking fee.

I was assuming the OP was trying to exchange under warranty, defective issue since they were detailing issues with the phone.

Try without to see if it's the case causing the issue.

Just an update: After speaking with a T-Mo CSR, it seems that the issue has been resolved by plugging in the AKG buds that came in the box, as opposed to using my other headset. It's weird, and I'm not sure if it's a factor, but when I was using the Nexus 6P, I always had issue with using Samsung headsets, because of the silver connectors they have. Google Assistant would always be triggered. Now, I had to switch from using a headset with a gold connector, back to silver. Strange, but whatever works. 🤷🏻

I know, it's an observation I made a while back, but I dismissed it, thinking that the phone was getting old anyway. It seems to hold true again. Oh well. Thanks!

Although I love the phone so far, I did neglect to mention that once I removed the Fed Ex packaging, I noticed that the seal on my retail box wasn't the same as the seal I've seen on retail boxes in unboxing videos. It was just a regular piece of tape, and it was broken. Should I take the phone back for an exchange and eat the $35 fee? The IMEI of the phone does check out, but I hate to think my phone was opened. Did Best Buy send me an already used open box phone? The phone has an April 1, 2019 build date, too, so it's not exactly hot off the assembly line. As far as the echoing issues, I only seem to get them on my end, when holding the phone in hand while the headset is plugged in. But that might just be the mic sensitivity.
