It's because the s10plus has the first gen under the screen proximity sensor. Which in all honesty not as good as the previous versions.

I remember my note 9 AOD would shut off if the proximity sensor was covered. But not with the s10.

I've got my S10+ in an Otterbox Defender case on a belt holster and when I first take the phone out of the holster the AOD is off then it blinks on once it's in the light. Is that because the sensor is completely covered? But it does go completely off.

It's set to Always On because I do want it on always even in a dim room but the display itself does go dim. I just thought it was normal that it does go off in the holster and I thought it could be because the sensor is completely covered.

I have the same issue, AOD was accounting for 5% of my battery usage so a changed it to tap to display. It's pretty shoddy of Smasung

Does the Otterbox holster have a sleeper magnet? That might be what is putting it to sleep so it's related to the proximity sensor issue.

I have no idea if it has one or not.
