Which is better? Rear fp reader or in display fp reader.

Which is better? Front or rear fingerprint scanner?

If you're reading this you probably have the S10 but which do you prefer? Which works better? The fingerprint reader on the back or the in display front?

I'm leaning towards upgrading to the Note 10 from the Note 9 but I really like the rear fp reader especially with finger gestures. Will I miss the rear fp much?

I've only had one of each and honestly I think the back was better because if you've been keeping up with the S10 at all there are dozens of mentions of screen protectors and the FPS. By far my strongest feeling that the rear FPS is better is based on screen protection. I'm not a huge screen protector advocate but if the FPS wasn't in the screen picking a protector would be a breeze and not work. Really there are so few that actually work with it that if you intend to use it you have a very small pot to choose from, with the one that works the best with the FPS and offers the most screen protection being super expensive. On the lighter side of why I prefer the rear FPS, it is more natural to place your finger up the back of the device, at least for me. Most would probably support the device in this way naturally when making some gestures on the screen so it is a movement that is instinctive at least and more natural at best.

As far as performance yeah I had way fewer false reads and all of that with the rear FPS but it was a different type of reader so it's not really apples to apples hardware side. Although Sammy claims an extra level of security with the sonic/3D FPS we've all seen the video of it being defeated so that is also a non issue because my HTC may not have touted the security of their FPS you had to be alive for it to work. Security enough in my book considering I am the one who picked out that friend whose only job when I die is to erase my device no questions asked... LOL.

So that's my 2 cents.

rear dedicated FP sensor, without question.

I had S9+, moved to S10+. Overall I thought I liked the S9+ better--and the rear FPS was a big part of it.

I recently bought another S9+ for testing with another carrier, and I've fallen in love with it all over again. Superb phone, AND the rear FPS rocks. I rarely use the front sensor on the S10, but when I do, it's problematic no matter what.

Fashion over form never works out.

Rear dedicated sensor for me as well. I had the Note 9 and currently own the S10+.

Rear, but I think once the front FPS is improved I will change my mind. They need to make the FPS area bigger and more reliable in the screen.

I like the in glass FPS. It's early and it's the way of the future. It will only get better. The RPS has been around a lot longer and it took some time to perfect. I'm more than willing to give it a chance as the technology improves.

The in display reader just plain sucks! Especially if you do any type of hard work with your hands. Did some tile work recently and the the finger print scanner on my S10+ became useless. Switched back to my Note 9 for the time being until the Note 10 comes out. But unfortunately it to will have a garbage in display reader as well...

I have used both extensively and definitely prefer front. Last time I checked, we didn't evolve with thumbs sticking out of our palms. It's so very much easier with the scanner (a distinct scanner, not "in display") on the front, and these things are supposed to be EASY.

You don't need a thumb for a rear scanner. I have both and either one is fine. There are pros and cons to both.

Yes, definitely pros and cons to both. Most prefer one or the other. Because I use my phone fairly often sitting face up on a table or desk, I prefer front sensor - but one that works.

Scanners on the front are a pain in the *** and pretty much require the use of two hands to just unlock the damn phone. Back reader was great until a bunch of whiny buttheads who have no coordination got it moved to the front.

Lol. That sucks. Its one of the reasons I hesitate to upgrade from a Note 9 to a Note 10+.

How is the face scanner?
