Am I the only person who finds it unbelieveable that the Galaxy s10, as a top-of-the-line 'smart' phone spearheading several previous generations of Galaxy phones which also have fingerprint scanners, has so many problems with its fingerprint scanner? It is a horrible 'scanner' in the first place - barely wider than a stalk of grass. How is that supposed to accurately scan a fingerprint 4x that width? Made to fail in the first place. I should not have to dedicate multiples of my already very limited number of available fingerprints to one finger just so I am able to access my phone. The sensor is affected by the minutest traces of water (liquid or gas), heat, cold, angle of approach. What is the point if one is made to wipe the entire phone down, and wash one's hands, simply to open the phone. Annoying, rediculous, and in my opinion unprofessional for a such a well-renowned company to release a piece of equipment meant for everyday use that one would think had been tested under multiple circumstances (wet, hot, cold, etc.), multiple times, vigorously, and yet not only has the sensor (as well as many other parts of this infernal device) failed to uphold even the slightest standard of efficiency, it has degenerated noticibly over the BRIEF period of four months before which the phone was on a shelf in a new-phone box.

Some people had issue and others worked perfectly. Do you have the stock preinstall screen protector on it ? You can register https://forums.androidcentral.com/sh...d.php?t=409154 to ask more questions or respond.

The image of fingerprint on screen is perfect. Never even realized there was a screen protector. Also enabledface recognition and 90% of time just swipe up to unlock. I never really liked the Note/S 8/9 with Fingerprint in back.

Get an iPhone, Face ID is suppose to have gotten more 3D like and faster. Or old iPhone 8 with Touch ID right there and taking a chunk out of what could be screen.

I agree with you the FPS on my S10 is maybe 80% functional on first scan. It seems random at times. I'm surprised it doesn't work with wet finger/thumb. I've also struggled when my skin is dry.

I currently do not have any screen protector on, and have multiple recorded fingerprints.

Following up on this comment now that Samsung rolled out their latest FPS update. It's working much better on my naked S10 screen. I'd say over 95% success rate on first scan.

I'm thinking about installing a screen protector now.
