How you feel about the s11 called s20

don't care. It will be remembered as...a bad phone. Snapdragon 865 with forced discrete 5G modem? Every such phone will be remembered as "yeah, let's forget that ever existed".

And, it will also be remembered as "the year we went too far" with regard to size. "But we were forced to--the 5G chip and bigger battery made us."

It doesn't help that midrange phones are really very good now.

And the cherry on top of all of this? The Snapdragon 765. Look it up. When it comes it'll give better than S10 performance for half the price. And someone--maybe not Samsung, but someone--will step back and inject some sanity back into phone sizes, and the 765 will let them do so with performance inside.

I agree with 5G , don't care for it at the moment, I'm interested if Samsung camera department can finally wow us . I agree with mid range phones are getting better and haven't read about sd765 chip , isn't pix 4a getting that ?

I agree with you. Until 5g has matured and real 5g, not the fake 5g the carriers are advertising, is available widespread, I'm not buying a 5g device nor paying more money for fake 5g.

Better camera technology would be awesome, and that's something I would appreciate.

I have a feeling they going have a really good camera in 2020 , which is a good thing . Yeah I agree with you on 5g also.

It's stupid and pointless and it'll probably be confusing to consumers, but it's ultimately inconsequential to me.

It's more concerning that they might get rid of the "e" variant. 2020 may be another year where there isn't a phone I consider to be worth buying.

An S11 smaller than my S10+, with the same size screen, better camera(s) and "fake" 5G as a bonus would be pretty tempting though.

The name won't bother me either way. I have an S10+ so I probably won't get it anyway unless there is a great trade in offer. My upgrade schedule is usually about every other year.

now you're thinking like a Starbucks marketing exec. "We don't have small, medium, and large; we have tall, grande, and venti. See? It's completely different!"

Today Samsung sells 10e, 10, and 10+. Tomorrow they'll sell 11, 11+, and 11 Pro.

Small, medium, large--tall, grande, venti. A rose by any other name...

And frankly, the whole 11, 11+, 11 Pro thing smacks of Apple envy. "Oh look at what Apple's doing, we must do EXACTLY the same thing!" No, Samsung. No you don't.

Yeah, it's not the name i care about, it's the lack of a smaller non-curved screen primarily.

If you don't understand someone's comment, why not just ask them to expand on it rather than attempting to fill in blanks by thinking about the terrible coffee you drink?

ummm....who here attempted to fill in blanks by making assumptions?

You did. I don't drink Starbucks coffee. Not sure where you got the idea that I did.

I simply pointed out an analogy between Samsung's naming and how Starbucks does things, and put it all in context of simple language. Samsung didn't get rid of the e; it's still in their lineup. But if you focus on "but they didn't name it the e!" then I would point you to the fact that they do have 3 models, just like Starbucks has 3 sizes. And whatever they call it is meaningless.

And, it will also be remembered as "the year we went too far" with regard to size.

Since it's New Years day I happened to have our time machine out of the garage and the engine still warm from the hours of family retrospection last evening.

I say this because last night we dialed 'er way back to 2012 and I saw myself, along with my teenage boys, at Best Buy and we saw the Note 1 on full display. I said the same darn thing you just said! I might have been a bit harsh actually when it came to characterizing the demographic that would buy such a thing..

My boys had a different point of view. Cooool!

I'm a wait and see on this one. After all Samsung was persistent that we get used to the phablet size, and for the most part we did.

All the best in the new year!

:)
