I access onedrive from the app on my phone, select the music that I uploaded, hit "save", and it gives me the option of choosing a folder in the phone's directory to download it to. Default is "Downloads", but I put it in "Music", as this is makes the most sense to me (although the samsung music app will draw music files from any folder in the phone, not just "Music").
I just noticed the "device care" app has an "auto optimize" feature that is on by default. I turned this off and we'll see if this stops the phone deleting files, although this seems to have more to do with shutting down apps and conserving RAM. However, this shouldn't be deleting files that purposely bypass the temp downloads folder. And neither should it be deleting files that I've shoveled directly into the Music folder via USB from the laptop, which also happens.
