I pre-ordered this phone and it just delivered by FedEx. I get home and I'm ready to set this phone up because I really love the S20 for size and battery life.

I'm soooo upset, this phone doesn't support micro SD cards. The same SIM card tray only supports the SIM card no expandable storage.

Oh wow. No sd card support? Guess they used it for the 5G bands. At least that's the excuse they will use.

Did you check and see if was on the other side? That's how the LTE tablets are.

At least you got yours! I pre-ordered from Best Buy for delivery today and am "delayed" with no idea when or if I will receive it.

And no millimeter wave 5G either I believe on the regular model. Not a big deal at this point in time but just noting.

Edit: Correction... I just remembered, the Verizon S20 5G UW does have millimeter-wave... because currently or at launch Verizon's 5G network is exclusively on millimeter-wave... that's why the custom UW model for Verizon.

Man leave it to Verizon to pull a stunt like this. Thinking of returning my new white one because of this...Every other S20 model has the micro sd slot.

That is really weird. Funny, searching the web you'd think someone... Another Verizon owner... would have mentioned it.

If you didn't provide a pic I probably find it hard to believe.

Someone needs to tell AC to update their article.

I'm not sure why Verizon would do that but I find it hard to believe Samsung would do it either.

The 1st thing I did was check the other side of the sim tray. Its my fault. I took for granted the fact that it was the same as the S20 with no mmwave.

The only saving grace a as that in the end i paid $400 for this phone through Samsung.com. I have a Pixel 3 to trade in that too $400 off $999. Verizon gives $50 instant credit and $150 credit over 24 month with device payments. I put the $400 down so I wouldn't have to pay anything else.

But I have 512gb sd card that I keep alot of stuff on.

Bought through Samsung.com?? I don't know how purchases their work but assuming all phones from samsung.com are unlocked for all carriers, couldn't you get an unlocked AT&T or non-carrier specific S20 and put in your Verizon SIM?

You can buy fully unlocked or carrier variants on Samung.com

Hmm... ok, thanks. So that's still the case with Androids eh? I was wondering why get a carrier variant from Samsung.com instead of an full unlocked.

At work we may satisfy the whim of a dept. head or exec when they request a new phone by using an upgrade available from one of phones we have on our account and if we don't have an AT&T upgrade available, we'll just use one from our Verizon account and just swap sims regardless of what carrier they are on (before Verizon started locking their phones again). Basically everyone except IT use iPhones so I guess I'm so use to iPhones being universal that I thought other manufacturers have already followed suit.

I use an Android but I personally use AT&T so when I use an upgrade it doesn't matter if it's Verizon or AT&T but usually I went with Verizon so that I didn't have to worry about unlocking if traveling abroad and swapping sims.

(Edit) I did get my Note with an AT&T upgrade last time. I'll have to think if any issues if I have to use a Verizon upgrade if I go Note 20.

I don't think the unlocked one supports Verizon's 5G network.

I had to make an edit to a previous post probably explaining why... Verizon's 5G network is exclusively on millimeter-wave... that's why the custom UW model for Verizon because it support millimeter while the other regular S20 variants do not. I forgot someone just told me that the other day at work.

My guess is that shoe-horning the full 5G chipset into the smalled bodied S20 required a sacrifice in space... SD card slot and support?

I'm not sure why Verizon would do that but I find it hard to believe Samsung would do it either.

They did say that's the reason the S20 didn't doesn't have it. I guess with the removal of the SD slot we have no reason to not believe them. I'm sure over time they will be able to get the mm wave radios into smaller devices.

So I have not had this phone for 24 hours and I will be sending it back. I might have been able to stomach no ad card but only 8gb of ram as well. Not for the same price as an unlocked one.

I don't know where you live, but Verizon is unmatched when it comes to 4G LTE coverage. I've driven all over the country and it's rare that I drop off it.

I agree but in rural areas where Verizon use to shine they are lately taking a backseat to T-Mobile.
