I'm thinking of buying the S20 FE but I am seeing people who have touchscreen issues called "ghost touches". Is any one having these issue? Are they noticable? I have an S8 and want to upgrade. My camera will not open anymore after a fatal hardware error..

    Thanks!

I haven't experienced anything like that since I've had it since launch. Not saying there can't be an issue with some of the devices though.

I haven't seen any issues with the touchscreen. It feels like a regular s20 but more comfortable due to the flat screen. I feel the regular s20 there's less to hold on to because of the curved screen.

If I use the touch screen test app and do the specific multiple fast swipes that people post about, sure, I see the ghost touches. In real life, this doesn't translate into any issues at all for me.

Initially I did see (a couple times) some constant ghost touch issues (where I had to reboot the phone to make it usable) but they went away after I got the "ATIG" software update.

And, I'd still guess it's all a question of software that will be fixed, not a bad batch of hardware to avoid.

Ok, cool. Thanks for the information. I am going to see what Black Friday deals show up and possibly go with this phone.

I would love a flat screen. I don't like the fact that when you watch a video, the sides look like they are rolling over the edge of the screen.

When I first got mine I was aware of some touchy touchscreen issues. Primarily with trying to drag and drop icons or other long press actions.

It seems to have gotten better since. I didn't do anything to fix it, though, so I'm figuring it might be an intermittent thing.

Well, I did change my touch sensitivity for the setting supposedly used with a screen protector (which I don't use). Initially that didn;t fix the problem completely, but may be why it seems diminished.

It doesn't "feel" like a hardware issue in my case, and I expect it will be corrected with a firmware update eventually. For now, it isn't bothering me much.

Sent mine back today...replaced it with the OnePlus 8T. Much better experience. My screen issues were minor...but the proximity sensor didn't do anything. Screen was ALWAYS on when pulling the phone out of my pocket...randomly tapping on EVERYTHING and then some. Screen would come on randomly when holding up to my face during an actual phone call...bet you didn't know people still make phone calls! Anyway...the 8T is better all the way around. YMMV

Can you just swap the sim card from another phone in to this phone if I were to buy the unlocked version? Everything should work on AT&T minus the Wi-Fi calling of course, correct?

Hmm, I don't think I've heard anything about ghost touches on the S20 FE. However, if something like that happens, return policies and exchanges will always be there for you! Good luck with your purchasing decision, and let us know what you decide!

Most of us in Europe have bad touch screens. Just sent mine back. It's not that it's unusable it's that it can become unusable. If a Samsung A01 Core for $100 doesn't have any issues why would a $700 phone have? It's not related to the 120Hz also. In local forums the list of concerned users is growing.

Tested on 5 different devices old and new mid range & flagship specs. Some got 1-2/20 bad touches, most got 0/20. The S20 FE (with the latest ATJ5 FW) gets 18-20/20 bad touches. It's simply unacceptable of any modern smartphone to behave so bad.

I understand some people say it's not an issue but I beg to differ. This is not a defective unit case it's a poor HW choice for this device.
It seems that they are trying to mask it with SW. I saw the screen be more responsive in the corners but it doesn't do anything for ghosting.

I ask fellow S20 FE owners to see if it's acceptable to:
    1. Type fast using swipe to type and 2 hands typing. If you register slow/unresponsive typing it's not you, and it shouldn't behave this way.
    2. Swipe through photos and use pinch to zoom. If it misses to register correctly or pulls you out of the screen you are in it's not you, it's the phone.
    3. Open a document swipe through pages and than pinch to zoom on different areas in the document. If it's not working 100% it's not you.
    4. Play multi-touch games (shooters for ex). If it's behaving bad it's not you.

And after coming from a phone that works 90-100% of the time I saw it immediately. Getting used to it is not the answer. I tested in Google Photos, Google Docs, Gboard, COD and Clash Royale. All normal use case scenarios, not only the Touch Screen test app on the Playstore.

It seems that most of the September production batch is affected. Here's hoping they fix smth in October.

    Other concerns:
    1. Screen quality. Some find it appalling. I find it ok - was willing to trade this for the lower price point.
It's below the S10 lineup as I understand besides the 120Hz.
    2. Call Proximity sensor missing. It seems they cut some corners here as well. There is no visible IR sensor on the front. Sure there was room for it. For some users it simply does not work as any other smartphone with the sensor. You have to press (your face/ear) on the screen to shut down the screen. I found it ok in my first week but I see it being a deal breaker. Nvm that at this price point it should have had this mainstream tech.
    3. 5G drain. I cannot test 5G as it's not widespread across the whole city. I except 5G to drain battery as it does on all the phones with this setup- external X55 modem.

    Positives:
-Cameras are really good- all 3 on the back. I have no issues with the output and I like Pro mode. 9/10 for me here.
-Selfies look a little washed out but I don't mind it at all. Still in Google Duo with activated night mode I looked like an oil painting.
-Build quality is good. Coming from glass backs and metal backs for the last 6-7 phones I find it ok. Overall grip is decent but not great. Will have to see how well it holds up in 6 months.
-Speakers (after tuning them in settings) sound great. Some lows missing but overall 9/10.
-Vibration motor is weak and seems low quality. Didn't mind it but coming from a good haptics phone I sensed it right away.
-Battery is great even on 120hz. Online reviews cover this part accurately.
-Fingerprint is Ok I guess. Optical in screen. Got used to it after 1 week.
ONE UI 2.5 has it's UX downfalls but I saw some of my annoyances and missing features in ONE UI 3.0 Beta reviews. So I will wait on judgment for this.
-Extra Samsung features: Some are great, some are useful, some are useless. Probably anyone will find something useful.
-Performance is great. Minor stutters which I address to One UI. I have the 6GB RAM version and it works just fine set-up properly to not close apps it holds all I need in memory - 9/10 here. The 8GB would be even so.

I may have had my first case of this but only this one so far.

I had been on hold in a call for for 15-20 minutes and had the phone on mute while I did other things. Someone finally comes on and says hello but the screen is black and when I tap on it to get to the mute button, it stays black while the person keeps saying hello. It finally woke up and I hit the mute button as the person was saying goodbye. Just missed another (even longer by now) wait on hold by a spit second.

No issues with mine. I've had it for about 3 weeks.
Multiple tests done. I've published them and some have claimed I'm using a different device.
Some noticed zooming very slowly in Instagram was an issue but I never do that. I regularly zoom in photos and maps.
I'm getting way over those claiming everyone is affected and you are just somehow putting up with it. The range of the severity of the issues points to something more out of whack for some.
It isn't as buttery smooth since the updates were released.
