I am a previous Samsung owner having had an S6 and S7 and whilst I generally liked those phones, I grew tired of the battery life falling off a cliff after approx 6-9 months - an issue that I did not find with my Huawei Mate Pro 20 that I switched to - so had planned to not buy Samsung Galaxys again.

Having said that, the reviews on the S21 Ultra do look great and it has got me tempted to switch over from my Pixel 5 (which I do love the camera on but the smaller screen isn't for me). So I am interested to hear any battery experiences of S20 Ultra / other recent Galaxys as to how impressive the battery life was initially and what its longevity was like after 6-12 months?

Battery life will vary between users , but I think your going be good on the s20U 5000mah battery , my Note 20U has little smaller battery and I get excellent battery life .

My S10+ battery fell off a cliff about 6 months after I bought it. I have had it 12 months and apart from the battery life it is a great phone. I am looking at getting a replacement battery fitted in a couple of months.

I had many iterations of the Galaxy phones and agree with your sentiment about the battery life seeming to fall off a cliff after about 6 months.
That is until the Note 9. I had it for almost two years and the battery remained a beast up until I moved to the S20+. I have had this phone now over 6 months and haven't noticed any decline in the overall battery. After my Note 9 experience, I'm more optimistic about it remaining that way

Six to nine months sounds as if you let the charge on the battery drop too low. If you make it a rule to either charge at 45% or turn the phone off at 40%, the battery will last a lot longer. Lithium polymer batteries are not deep cycle batteries.

I have note 10+ since its release and still get 7+ hours SOT. I use an average of 3 to 3.5 hrs everyday and this phone is still doing great.

Mine is still rock solid on a S20.

I still make it through a whole day (and more if I need) without the need to charge.

Also I've done my own tests on 1080p120hz vs 1440p60hz and there is more than a 10% hit using 120hz.
I decided to stick with 1440p60hz.

No. I never let it drop low at all. What so did do was start to charge it wirelessly and that was when it started to decline. I never use wireless charging any more and it hasn’t gotten much worse although I probably have about 80% battery health now. I do charge it twice a day. My pixel lasts me easily a day and a half.

I prefer cable charging now. I know about deep charging as I have a mobility scooter and I charge it every time I use it because that battery cannot be allowed to drain too low and it does have to be charged to full. It cannot deep cycle either.

I fully agree..... I don't see the point in having 1440P and not using it
