Hi there,
How can I limit my phone to only connect to 2.4ghz wifi? The wifi system does not show separate 2.4 ghz and 5ghz networks. I don't have access to the router.
My S20 is running Android 11.
Thanks,
Tom

Hi unfortunately if you don't have control of the wifi and it doesn't show which to connect you cant.
Do you know what 802.11 protocol the router is? More recent protocols like 802.11ac typically won't show separate SSIDs, since they rely on 5 GHz primarily, and use 2.4 GHz as a fallback.
Is the phone not able to connect at all? Is the phone able to see the SSID? If this isn't your router, could the owner have made the SSID hidden so that other people don't try to piggyback on their wi-fi signal?
No it's my landlord's router. She is not computer literate enough to hide things. I connect fine, just wanted to try some smart LED light bulbs and they seem to only initially setup with 2.4 GHz. Tried two brands and it looked like they use the same software.

What brand and model are the light bulbs?
Don't know as I returned them. They have different brand names and work on both frequencies but needed 2.7ghz to setup.

Ah, ok. If you end up getting another smart lightbulb and have problems, let us know!
Thanks!
It's not a biggy and won't even try again unless I know in advance how to limit my phone to using 2.7 ghz.
