5G on Band 66 with Unlocked GS20+. AT&T 5G plan.
No BS 5GE...

Just started picking this up about 3 miles from where I live: 35 miles North of New Orleans.
Since I have an unlocked model this is not AT&T's Fake 5GE...assume this is the Mid level 5G that is only marginally faster than 4G LTE
You can see the 5G logo up in the top right hand corner but very small...
This was not present a couple months ago and speeds were easily 1/2 what the screen shots show so good news is they are at least improving... Still many weak spots in coverage with AT&T and low signal in buildings VS Verizon...

Don't know if this is been asked or brought up but if you're running a 5G speed test, do you have a 5G sim card in your phone? That might make a difference in your tests.

Yea

My buddy has a Iphone, and on Tmobile. It showed him something about 5G on his phone. And he was telling me How good it worked.

I said Iphone has decided that you don't need a 5G service in your phone.
And you don't have a 5G sims in your phone.
So how can you get 5G service.

Hi, you have to subscribe to a 5G plan with your carrier. Same SIM card that works with 4G LTE should then pick up 5G as long as your phone has the 5G radios... Like the S20+ or Ultra

Look up Iphone. Google said Iphone has decided that non of their iphones at present don't have 5G capabilities.
Iphone decided that you don't need 5G as or yet.

Besides this.

So how are you gonna get 5G on a phone that don't support 5G ?

Just asking.

I am just referring to the S20 + and Ultra that do not require a special SIM to get 5G ...I am well aware that the iPhone does not pick up 5G yet.
Sorry if I misunderstood

I'm not sure what you are talking about here, "showed him something about 5G"? With that description, it sounds just as likely that he got a text message from T-Mobile that his plan supports 5G (with 5G phone). The only case I've ever seen an iPhone saying something like "5g" was AT&T's "5Ge" -- which the iPhone did show; it was AT&Ts fast 4G (and shortly before 5g was actually being deployed) to make their customers think AT&T must be really great.

Of course, Apple didn't so much decide you don't need 5G as their "war" with Qualcomm kept them from getting 5G modems. Then again, as this thread shows, most of us don't really gain a lot from having 5G -- either it is too limited or, in T-Mobile's case, typically isn't really faster than LTE.

You guys are getting good speeds on AT&T? I picked up the S20, and my video buffers, and I actually dropped a few calls in places where I never have a problem. It shows full bars and 5 G, and I'm only getting around 10-15 for speed. I pop the sim and put it in my old phone on 4G, and get 50 to 60. I put a call into AT&T, and got the old, you'll hear back from us within 24 hrs and my supervisor will also give you a call tomorrow. I haven't heard back in 3 days, so needless to say, I'm returning the S20 and going back to my S9.

Is the S20 unlocked or Att branded?

This says it's 4G (LTE) but it must have been a 5G test from my carrier (who haven't officially launched their 5G network yet)
