So because I take a zillion pics and that they only had the 128gb available for my carrier, what other services are best to upload or use since Samsung is doing away with their stuff. I'm trying to decipher if that's a true deal breaker. I honestly didn't think about that when ordering.

If you have Amazon prime they have unlimited photo backup. It really depends what you want to do with the pictures.

If you're not interested in paying for an increased Google Drive plan through Google One, and if you have Amazon Prime, then I would also recommend Amazon Photos. The unlimited photo backups there are for original quality.

I use google photos. Originally because of free storage. I did think about moving to amazon photos but the thought of transferring all my photos was too much. I paid £15.99 for a year which to me is worth paying to avoid having to swap all my photos

I'm quite strict about what I back up though. Nothing from WhatsApp etc and when I take a load of pics I whittle down the rubbish ones and only keep the best.

Looks like family members also get unlimited storage: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custo...cUvbUpU6926021. Look at the Family Vault details in the table.

I still take most of my photos on actual cameras and store the photos locally on 2 separate hard drives. Due to this habit I just move photos from my phone over every few months at most.

Like others have said, Amazon Prime would be good to look into if you're storing on the cloud.

Personally like Google photos the best, super fast and works great. Search is great within the app and till now best cloud photo service for me. It's also good practice to back up multiple places just in case. I use Google photos as primary, Onedrive and Amazon photos as backup. I can't remember last time connecting my phone to computer to backup anything. The convenience of just having everything backed to cloud is great for me. Another advantage with cloud storage is ability to access your photos or stuff from multiple devices unlike copying manual to devices.

Do you have a subscription to Microsoft Office 365? For $99/year, I get to load the full Office suite on up to 5 machines plus each user gets their own 1TB of storage space in the cloud. I only have about 300GB of photos and videos, so 1TB is plenty for me. Auto backup works great as well, things get backed up within minutes.

The problem I have with Amazon prime storage, is that you only get 5GB of video storage which is not much at all. If you take even some video, you'll either have to pay for more storage or use a separate service just for your videos.

^^^^^This. I personally dont like to use the cloud too much, mostly for privacy reasons. NAS is cheap, and you can keep your stuff private.

I move pictures and videos to my PC on a daily basis, one copy to an internal hard drive and one copy to an external hard drive. Works fine for me plus I have a third backup on Google Photos. Amazon Photos is a good option for those that have Prime.

There is a difference between the cloud services I use and the apps I use to access these services. (I prefer "neutral" file managers that can handle clouds.)

    OneDrive for me.

Offers better integration with other services, cheaper for more storage, better app, better web interface, storage vault, etc....

I currently use my own NAS (Western Digital My Cloud) that has an app. But before that, there was an app called "Sync Me" by bvaisoft that allowed me to back up over wifi to my computers (as long as they were on the same network). The free version worked well and it was able to back up to network storage also. I think the paid version allowed some remote backup to your local storage as well. But, with the free version, I just had a routine setup to do backups once a night while I was sleeping.
