Bixby Routines stops on its own?

After reading about Bixby Routines here in the S21 Forum I gave it a try to keep my S21 5G unlocked while in my home and connected to my WiFi and it has been great.....Until it isn't.

Yesterday I noticed the phone was asking for the fingerprint even in the house and when I looked at my Notification Bar I saw that my Bixby Routine was no longer running. Odd. It still showed as "on" in the Advanced Features so I toggled it off then on, but no joy. Toggled off and restarted, then on but nothing. Toggled off/on, restarted multiple ways and restarted, but nothing.

Magically, it started working again after the fourth or fifth restart and was fine the rest of the day. Chalked it up to an anomaly.

Well, once again it just stopped working today. Restarted the phone two or three times and it started working and showing up in the Notification Bar.

This happened today after I stepped out to a store and returned. I expected that when I returned home I would have to use my fingerprint or enter my PIN when I got home to open the phone the first time after returning, but it just continued.

Being new to Bixby Routines I don't know what to expect, but knowing it is Android is this going to be the way it works? When it feels like it?

Thanks in advance....

Happened two more times in the last two days. Had to go into the routine, modify and save. Then restarted and function returned.

No one else has seen this?

Only thing i can think of is wait for next update or go to settings>apps>system apps >clear its data then force stop it.

Thanks. Interestingly, when I modified the routine I deleted the location and only left the one when I am connected to my WiFi the problem hasn't happened again. Now almost two days and hasn't happened again (knock on wood).

I wonder if that could that be the problem, having Bixby keep the phone unlocked when I am both at an address and connected to a particular WiFi network, which is the same location? Thinking about it, originally I only had it set up to unlock when I was at my home address. At some point I added the WiFi connection too. Not sure how soon after the problem began, but it maybe all ties together.

Time will tell.

Thats a possibility , keep a eye on it see if that was the case , could been confused between the two.

Quick update....After three or four days of no stumbles and steady operation I added back the location parameter and it has been working perfectly since.

Weird...

The "fun" with Bixby continues and I am about done with it. My unlock routines are still randomly stopping on their own and now I have to delete them, reboot, set up the routines again and they work for several days up to maybe a week and then stop again. The routines still show up as active and valid in the Settings. They just stop running for no apparent reason.

I will no longer battle to use a function that is supposed to enhance the Android experience. Very sad.

I am beginning to understand fans of iToys as it appears when they build in a function it just works. Of course, I have no experience with Apple devices so I don't know for sure. I am not going to move to that platform as financially it makes no sense, but I find Android to be quite frustrating at times and there doesn't seem to be any relief in the works. It isn't like I am using an off-off brand device with an unknown carrier behind it. It is a Sprint/TMo Samsung S215G with up-to-date software.

Funniest thing is that as I am typing this on my home PC, I see my Bixby Location Routine has suddenly started working again after not functioning since last night.

Grrrr...

I have had trouble with Routines, as well. Same kind... The location just stopped working. I don't use it anymore. I fiddled around with it for a month and chucked it. Phone is still great, though.

Hopefully a update will fix this , check Galaxy store every once in awhile.

And of course this morning it stopped working again. I wonder if there is a time limit?

<sigh>

For what it is worth, it appears a recent update has resolved the on-going issue I was having with Bixby and the location routine. It snuck up on me and I suddenly realized the routine was running (and working) for a couple of weeks straight.

It is now running steadily for at least three or four weeks with no interruption. Fingers and toes are crossed.

I can only hope that posting this isn't the kiss of death...LOL
