I've had the s21 ultra since launch day. I've pretty much used Whitestone and many different glue tempered glass screen protectors. I've gone through 4 of them and the results although great messed up my phone. This was this morning when my 4 went completely black. The screen is no longer working. I took the phone to youbreakitifixit this afternoon and they said any type of screen protector that involves adhesive glue will start to cause damage to the digitizer under the screen. So pleased be advised do not use Whitestone or anything on Amazon.

With that being said, what is actually available to use as a screen protector that won't screw up the screen?

While I was tempted when I first heard about them for the S10 I was skeptical because the oleophobic coating wears off of everything eventually which would mean replacement at some point. I could never get around how to remove something glued to the screen and truthfully that was the thing that stopped me from going in that direction. I find it difficult to believe that just the act of gluing the protector on causes damage to the digitizer, I mean come on how many absolutely destroyed digitizers have we seen people using that still work perfectly fine? They are darn near indestructible. My guess based you your images and teardown videos I've watched that you got a little too aggressive with the removal and separated the digitizer from the screen. Since I started researching Samsung devices how sensitive, fragile and easily broken Samsung's screens are has been something that has echoed through many of the teardown and repair videos I've seen on these devices.

Those pics look just like what happened to the Fold when people were removing the "screen protector" that wasn't a screen protector.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, hopefully you'll be able to get it fixed and it'll last you a good long while.

Sorry...I don't believe a screen protector will cause damage to the digitizer.

I've used Whitestone on all my devices since the S10 and replaced them or removed them without any issue.

The glue is what can seap into the sides and destroy the digitizer the screen is fine just can't trust these anymore.

How is that even possible on a water resistant device?

Same here, used WSD on all my devices, removed plenty of them and have never had any problems like this.

How have you gone through 4 glass screen protectors already?

I'm still on the first WSD on my S21 Ultra.

No cracks no damage. The glue seaps through the sides through these installs. And that eventually dries up and most likely pushed up the screen some and then the screen turns black. Luckily I have insurance and a new phone will be sent tomorrow since it's considered a defect on the part of the small gaps. Assurion recognized the issue.
