So I started to notice that data on my S21U is constantly slower than on my Pixel 4. 4G or 5G makes no difference and in fact 5G is usually slower than 4G. (Same network)
It's not that I care about some crazy speeds, it's just in some places it's barely usable. Right now I get 0.5mbps and my Pixel 4 gets 3-5mpbs. Why is that?

Try resetting your networks under settings.

Does nothing. Looks like either Samsung doesnt utilize all bands or connects to a slower one all the time

Which carrier you have ? I would think your Samsung s21u would have better band coverage then your pixel 4 for sure . Try using 4g /lte on your Samsung

I'm going to throw this out there for you to consider, as I had to investigate why my cell data (4G/LTE only) was dog-slow while at my house but quite good everywhere else. I'm on Verizon myself, and what I discovered was that, while at my house, my phone never connected to any actual cell tower. There are 2 houses in my subdivision that each have a Verizon cell extender. I ALWAYS connect to either one or the other. One of them is slightly faster than the other, but neither can match the speed of an actual cell tower. Since I don't know either of the owners of these houses with extenders, I can only guess that the slow-down is caused by whoever supplies their home internet connection.

To find out that I was connecting to cell extenders instead of a cell tower, I downloaded an app called Network Signal Info. It has a tab that will show you on a Google Map where the cell tower that you are connected to is located. Here's a screenshot showing the 2 cell extenders in my sub and indicating the one I'm currently connected to. Good luck with your issue.

I have t-mobile and I am always on 4g/lte. 5g is almost always slower and causing 4g/5g switching issues.

Yes. 4g/5g makes no difference in that case. I am not saying it's always the case, but I did notice this many times. And I had this issue with Note 20 as well.
