Just wondering, why Samsung jumped from #10 phones to #20's?

Hi! Who knows! Sometimes manufacturers do that as a way to stand out from the crowd -- not always as a way to move numerically or in a linear fashion. For example, I thought I heard or read somewhere that Samsung chose to jump to the "20" line due to is being in the year 2020. It's pretty good for branding, marketing, and labeling. The products become more memorable to potential customers.

I read, it was Samsung wanted to differentiate from the iPhone 11 that had been out for a while so a S11 was not a good look. Therefore, due to a new decade, they decided to start with a numbering system that will reflect the year of release. Be interesting when the new century comes around. Will they start to include the full three digit number S3001?

Pretty sure I won't be here to care!

Marketing and competing with other brands are so huge! @RETG had a great point about Samsung wanting to be different from Apple.

Yeah, I guess they figured if Apple could sell phones with no extra storage for memory card, they could too.
