I use it at least daily and more often if using lots of apps just to make sure they are closed and not consuming battery.

I wonder if a bixby routine is available to do this say every 6 hours when not plugged in charging.

Press the hamburger button at the top right of the Device Care window and choose Automation and choose to optimize daily. You could also choose to Auto restart your phone on schedule if you want but I feel that's overkill.

I've probably used it twice since I got this phone in February. I do utilize the auto restart twice a week.

I have mine setup as @donm527 mentioned, so it optimizes everyday.

I run it when my phone seems slow or laggy... which is pretty much never.

You're probably going to actually use MORE battery running it every day.

Well that's a good point. I didn't consider that. I probably should re-evaluate using the automation setup.

    Thanks for mentioning it.

The only time I ever restart my device is when it restarts after installing an OS update or security update.

I didn't even realize I had it set up to run daily. Maybe that's why my device is running so smoothly.

Same here. It must be set to run daily by default?

Auto restarting a Android device has always helped for me since the first T-mobile device I had think it was the side kick lol.

Restarting every few days used to be mandatory on Android... Nowadays though, it's completely unnecessary. My phone only gets restarted to install updates.

    Neither have I...

You do you. But restarting every night and having no lag are related in the same way that a sportsball fan wearing the same socks every week so that their team doesn't lose are.

I'm going to begin restarting mine every hour which will give 24 times better performance.

I think we each just do what we do and there's no right and wrong. The fact that they have included it in the settings tells me there might be some small benefit but who really knows. If my device is performing well, and it is, I'm leaving things alone.

    Exactly lol.

My thinking on why it's in the settings is that it's just a hang over... It used to be an INCREDIBLY useful feature, and if there's one thing I've learned about Samsung, it's that they HATE getting rid of anything! They are severely change averse when it comes to their software!

I'm rather new to Samsung so I don't have a history to fall back on.

Sounds like they're the opposite of Google who likes to change things every 30 minutes.
