Hi, Please forgive my lack of understanding. I am writing on behalf of my 12 year old. She has a Galaxy S3 with a small internal memory, i think 4.4gb and a 32gb SD card. The memory on the phone is full but the SD card is empty. I have managed to figure out how to save photos to the SD card but when i go into files and select all and try to move them to the SD it fails everytime. Also it fails when i try to make a new folder. I have tried to move the apps to the SD card using apps like app2sd but there does not seem to be an option. Am i being thick ( I have an iphone so am not too familiar with Android ) or is there no easy way to set the SD card as default? It almost seems pointless having one! Can anyone help or suggest some options? I have cleared app caches and deleted photographs and apps. The phone is running 4.1.2 Thank you in advance.

    Welcome to the forums!

Unless the phone is rooted I don't think you'll find a method to move apps to the SD card. If the phone was running 4.3 then you'd be able to do it easily.

Once you have an SD card present it should be easy to have the Camera app save pictures there by default.

You should also be able to move pictures/videos to the SD card using the file manager of your choice (including the built-in 'My Files' app). What does the error message say?

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know there were file manager apps. I will have a look for one and see if that helps.
The error message says "moving failed"
What do you mean by 4.3? I have tried to update the software but it says the one she is in is the latest.

If you go to Settings -> About phone and look at 'Android version' that'll tell you what version of firmware the phone is running (4.3? 4.1.2? etc).

The carrier really determines whether or not a specific phone gets certain updates (assuming that Google and the manufacturer have already provided an update). You can also check here - just click the drop-down list in the upper left corner and select your model number. If you have an International phone you'll have to mouse-over the region codes until you find your country/carrier.
