How do I fix a problem with an S3mini not registering on Network?

I have an S3 mini and have just come back from visiting overseas. Since being back, my phone is telling me its not registered on the network and yet it shows that I have signal. I've tried a few things, but so far, nothing has helped. Anyone got any thoughts?

I would try to do a factory data reset

Before resetting it, I'd bring it to the carrier.
