    Looking at sammobile.com it appears that 4.2.2 is the highest you'll get through Samsung, and you're even lucky with that as I checked a couple variants (you didn't specify what model you have, there are many that may be at different release levels) and those were at 4.1.2.

    You won't get any new firmware directly from Samsung, you would need to utilize a 3rd-party ROM and accept all the risks (potentially rendering your phone useless if you mis-step) of doing so. This very forum has a section on just that if you go to the device-specific section, you will need to register a (free) account to post there though.
