What phone do you have now? My Skyrocket you can go unto "my files" and long click, copy, then go into SD directory and pick folder. It gives option to paste.

Contacts- go into contacts, menu button, import/export, export to sd card.

Or you can hook up to computer and use it as a mass storage and move files where you need

Yeah it's kind of important to know what phone you have currently. Since you should have a Gmail account when having an Android phone, it's a good idea to just import your contacts into Gmail, that way, as soon as you log in with your Gmail account on your new phone, your contacts will be there right away. Just be sure to always tell the phone to add new contacts to the Gmail account as well and just don't show any contacts from the phone itself, there shouldn't be any to begin with unless you have some overzealous sales guy that hooks both phones to a machine and transfers them. If that were to happen and you land up having contacts on the phone itself, you can export them to the sd card and from there import them to the Gmail account, just be sure to only show the gmail contacts to avoid seeing doubles. As far as your pictures go, all depends on what phone you have now.
