I bought one too, thanks for the post. I bought a 32gb class four last week for half that price but luckily I haven't opened it. So that will be getting returned in favor of this one.

What is the recommended class quality to get? This sale at Best Buy was just for a class 6. Shouldn't we be looking for class 10?

Per industry standards, each class must meet the minimum read/write speeds:

    Class 10 = 10 MB/s

    Class 6 = 6 MB/s

    All UHS-1 cards: 10 MB/s

I can't find any info that says the S3 is a UHS-1 compatible host, which means it would revert to the industry standard class ratings.

Theoretically the chances are greater that a class 6 card will be at higher risk of choppy HD recorded video.

That said, I doubt the video quality on this phone warrants a class 10, especially if Sandisks own benchmarks are what they say they are.

But an S3, or any other mobile phone, can't wirte to a SD card at class 10 speends. So the only time it would come into play is when it is reading from the card or when you have the SD card interfaced to your computer.

Why is that? Benchmarks indicate that it can

I'm specifically referring to the phone's ability to write to the SD card. According to the benhcmark it will only write up to 7 mb/s. Forgive me if I am being a noob. Just trying to make sense out of everything.

Nah, that's okay But you need to look at the 3rd row of screenshots. The second row is for the class 6 - which was benchmarked at < 10 MB/s. The 3rd row is for the class 10 card. Write speeds, according to those benchmarks are >11 MB/s in all 3 tests. He tested using a SG2.

Yup, just like a noob I was comparing the first row against the second row. Damn, now that card I paid $50 for doesn't seem so great. I guess we won't really know for certain until someone tests it with their S3. *Keeping my fingers crossed*

Thanks for expalining it to me and for finding that article.

So Cory, if we plan to use video we should get a class 10? I know with my digital camera I was told to get a class 10 for video.

Should of done your research like I did yesterday! I looked it up on Amazon and the cheapest I saw the exact card was $71.99 so it was a no brainer to jump on it for $49.99! And who knows when it will come down to that price as well!
