Why the blue screen color cast?

The whites on a HTC use what is similar to a led of 4000-4500k white color. Samsung uses closer to a 5000k white led.

I personally think the Samsung white looks "cleaner" when displayed next to the HTC in youtube videos.

Different kernels (at least for the GNex) have color/gamma settings. You can correct that screen very, very quickly. I presume the same will be true with the SIII.

hmm..somehow missed that the One S used Super Amoled.

Different kernels (at least for the GNex) have color/gamma settings. You can correct that screen very, very quickly. I presume the same will be true with the SIII.

Which brings the original question to why Samsung couldn't just correct it themselves.
