Is there a software for the Galaxy S3 that helps me backup & restore the phone to a previous state just like how you can backup everything on your iPhone (including apps, contacts, pics, messages etc.) using iTunes and restore it? The same iTunes backup also allows me to get a new iPhone and sync it and my the new iPhone looks just like my old iPhone, everything is where it is supposed to be down to my bookmarks and messages and I don't have to do anything. Can the Kies software accomplish the same things?

Mostly. I used it on my skyrocket. Saved all memos, Calender, messages, pics, vids, music, email accounts, network settings.
Don't remember if I had to download Apps but lost progress in angry birds and such anyway.

Once they come out with a root method for US GS3 phones and if you root, you can use Titanium Backup or if someone comes out with a method to make full nandroid backups for the GS3 that would work as well. I use both methods on my DX and it has served me well.
