Apps more people should know about
- So I figure this would be a cool thread to have to share apps that you think not too many people know about or that they should know about. I have one in particular that I've had for over 2 years now that I've never come across anyone else having it (and they usually think I'm rooted to do it) that I'll get the ball rolling. Please also share details about the app so the friends here can quickly skim the thread.
Wave Launcher
Download at Google Play
It's not a home launcher. Rather, it's a gesture-based app shortcut launcher. You can choose where you want to slide your thumb from and a "wave" (customizable) of apps that you choose appears on the screen. Simply then slide your finger to the app you want to launch and release your finger from the screen and it launches.

If you're like me and always trying to find faster ways to launch apps from ANYWHERE I haven't found anything better than Wave Launcher.07-02-2012 05:33 PMLike 0 - If you remember this handheld game from your childhood, developer TouchGrove has done a wonderful job of recreating this classic for the Android platform:
LED Football

The game controls remarkably well on my, almost 2 year old, HTC Desire. Luckily I was able to get it as a FAOTD a while back.07-02-2012 09:51 PMLike 4 - Mint.com

- Tecmo football rocked. Christian Okoye was an unstoppable beast.
I don't care what kind of phone you use, that's not how I judge someone's worth or intelligence. Sent using tapatalk 2.anon(522296) likes this.07-02-2012 10:44 PMLike 1 - NoBloat app - an app to delete all those pesky carrier apps you don't want on your phone!

AdFree Android - if you're tired of obnoxiously placed ads to get those accidental clicks, and are rooted, this program works great

Wifi File Explorer - easiest way to access your phone's files on your computer if your USB is finicky (my work laptop only recognized my epic 4g about half the time)

I am wondering if the Adblockers (such as AdFree Android) prevent the ads even being served (will it save on battery and bandwidth) or do the ads still download, but just get prevented from displaying? In the description, it says it nullifies requests, so I'm guessing the ads never even download, so it would save bandwidth.07-03-2012 10:51 AMLike 0 - Screebl is a great app (as long as your not on a Motorola phone, bad battery drain for some reason) that keeps your screen on as long as it is held in a non-flat position. The included app from Samsung using the front facing camera might replace this if it works well though.07-03-2012 12:07 PMLike 0
