with Lux, is the dimming and brightening smoother than android or does it still change in noticeable chunks
I went into Lux's options and chose the Adjust Dynamically option. It's smooth, but not silky smooth.

Still worth having the extra backlight, or less.

Play around with the settings and let us know what you like.

I installed GSam Battery Monitor. I'll report back in a week and see if the increase in brightness is worth the toll it will inevitably take on the battery.

id say that would be a pretty phone-specific think to modify + not an android thing so i doubt it man but could be wrong

That is just stupid. Why would they remove a feature that was in the galaxy s2?

As far as the topic title, like a previous user said, only the international variants had that option. Was hoping to mess with them too on my Sprint GS3 variant. And as far as an app to decrease the brightness, I've used an app called Screen Filter by haxor industry. Haven't tried Lux Auto-brightness so if that dims it far enough for you then that should be fine. Just that if you need it even darker, Screen Filter can go as far as nearly pitch black. Used it back on my Epic 4G days and it still works fantastic on my GS3.

Why don't you watch the movie and not whoever is checking their phone. The movies you go to must suck, 'cause I could care less If someone is just checking their phone and not talking on it. I mean really a forty or fifty foot screen and blaring surround sound and you are the cell phone ninnie
Maybe YOU will remember his post the next time you go to the movies and get off your high horse.
It's a rule of the establishment you're visiting. That's why you shouldn't do it. Oh, I forgot, the rules don't apply to narcissists like you... loser.
