With Root Explorer yes. In fact, you may need root to explore/modify your system folder in general but I can't be positive.

I'm 70% positive you need to be as well, but that's only because I've never bothered unless I was rooted :).

ES File Explorer should be able to see some stuff.

yeah i gathered that mate cheers:) if i root my int' s3 (im more and more tempted) will i still get ota updates?

You will still get them you just won't be able to flash them because you won't have samsung recovery anymore. It will be a custom one

Yes, unless you attempt to block them (I'll grab a link to a guide I made) with some light file renaming or flash a ROM that includes OTA blocks.

cheers man. i still wana get the OTAs though. dont really wana flash a rom as im startin to like touchwiz. i just wana root to use root apps and uninstall bloatware to save memory :)
