I've seen posts from people who successfully connected their GS3 to xbox to access content on the GS3. I'd like to use GS3 for xbox's internet connectivity. I understand the end result won't be ideal, but it's better than nothing. My son and I are boaters and we usually bring the xbox on trips. He'd like to connect online with his friends at home when we anchor in the evenings. We currently stream netflix with an HDMI connector which works great when we are in 4G areas, but now he wants more.

Is there a product other than a laptop that uses GS3's micro USB and converts to ethernet or straight USB that will plug into the xbox? I know Samsung is moving towards wireless connections, but I have an unlimited data plan with no wifi. If I sign up for wifi, Verizon is going to take away the unlimited data. Space and AC power is limited, so powering a TV, xbox, and a laptop is less than ideal. I found the adapter below, but wondered if anyone had experience with something like this? I'm guessing if it wasn't made for Samsung, it won't work.

I have NO idea if that adapter will work...Does your XBox 360 have built in wifi? If it does then you could wifi tether your xbox to your phone providing you root your S3.

what kind of data speeds do u get on the s3?
online gaming could be really choppy without LTE plus i think wifi tethering limits the speed?
ps, theres apps that allow USB tethering so id guess a simple Micro USB-USB cable would work
p.s, no need for an app for USB tethering (if your carrier allows tethering) its in phone settings.
if tethering isnt allowed then root and use FoxFi tethering app

Why not just get the XBOX wireless adapter and then use a free tethering app you can download from the play store? This way you turn on wifi on the device (no you don't need to be on a wifi connection, it's just so the XBOX can connect to the phone), then launch the tethering app and from the XBOX connect to the phone and use it's data connection.

but unless theyre on a plan that allows tethering, wont they have to be rooted for FoxFi to make it undetectable?

Not sure, never tried it on AT&T but on Verizon even without a tethering plan the free tether apps worked and Verizon couldn't ever tell. I can't see how any other carry would be able to tell either - the data is still going through the phone. Plenty of people get around the additional cost of tethering plans using the free apps out there.

No wireless tethering doesnt limit the speed i acruallt get faster down speeds when tethered to my 360 than i do when just using my phone.
Per examplei bought and downloaded dawnguard a 650mb file in less than 45 minutes in comparison stock roms equivalent to that size have taken me upwards to 3 hours to download on my phone.

You can tether to your laptop then share your laptop's etgernet connection. Use FoxFi to wireless tether to your laptops wireless connection then plug the xbox in to an ethernet port.

Which windows are you on? On windows 7 do this:
Right click wireless networks icon, go to network and sharing center
    Change adapter settings
Right click your wireless connection to the phone, go to properties
    Go to the sharing tab
Check the box to share the connection to your ethernet. Mine is labeled "Local Area Connection"
    Click on, all done.

Edit: this is how I get live on my xbox since an old school 360 and I'm a poor college student so I can't afford the wireless adapter. Works quite well.

Xbox 360 with built in wifi here, enable portable wireless hotspot on phone and configure ssid and password. Then setup Xbox with network name and password to connect to wifi network and thats it.

Hey guys not trying to beat a dead horse here but I see a few of you had sucess doing this. I have a galaxy s3 w/ unlimited 4G LTE data thru verizon. Due to recent circumstances I had to shut off my internet/cable. I'm on my PC tethered to my phone right now using easy tether (I also got pdanet to work). I can't get my xbox to connect to the network though. I tried sharing option and this method (http://phandroid.com/2010/06/28/how-...t-to-xbox-live). Best I can get is my xbox to connect to the network and fail to connect to the internet. I've tried to nut-up and dig around a little for some ideas or possibilities but I'm dead in the water. I have an older xbox elite so it doesn't have wifi and I'd really prefer to not buy the stupid adapter!

The op was looking for a way to tether to the OLD 360 without built-in wifi and without a computer.
