Dumped some videos into /sdcard/mnt/dcim/
When I tried deleting them I get a message that the drive they're on is write protected

I have tried to use astro, stock file manager; my file.

Anybody experiencing such?

Never had this issue. Were these digital copies of DVDs you own? If you're rooted, have you tried Root Explorer? That should do the trick.

How did you 'dump' them into that location? (BTW, the actual path is /mnt/sdcard/dcim - not the other way around) It's possible that whatever method you used to copy the files there also set the file permissions to read-only. Or perhaps the files were originally read-only. Anyway, a different file manager may allow you to see what's going on and to fix it. Try:
ES File Explorer: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop
Ghost Commander: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.ghostsq.commander
Root Explorer: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer
Solid Explorer: http://market.android.com/details?id=pl.solidexplorer
X-plore: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.lonelycatgames.Xplore
or any one of the hundred other file managers out there. (Note: some of those links I provided may be to the paid version of the app but there are free versions of all of them. Also, I used to like Astro but with their latest updates they've really buggered it up.)

Thanx for the response guys

The files were hidden in 'audio manager' prior to now. I moved them to that location recently

Which of the apps listed will allow me change file attributes?

Not rooted and no they are not from DVDs. Just clips downloaded from the web
