    Howdy all.

My Thunderbolt has served me extremely well for almost 2 years now. I picked it up the day it was released and have never once been unhappy with it.

But, times have changed and I'm looking at getting a Galaxy S3. Mostly because it would be nice to be able to have a 4.x version of Android and also because I probably need a little more horsepower. I tether the crap out of this phone and it handles all my Internet needs at home and abroad. Lots of streaming.

I was hoping to hear from some Thunderbolt owners that made this switch and see what your opinion is. I've really got use to Sense and I know very little about whatever Samsung's UI is. One thing I'm really looking for is a Samsung equivalent to Facebook for HTC Sense hook app that connects your Facebook contacts and puts the callers picture on the screen when they call.

    Anybody?

    Thanks.

I kind of skimmed over this quick buddy, but I came from a Thunderbolt and I love my S3! I still use my Thunderbolt for an mp3 player though and also when I have wifi, like now, I'll use it to let the S3 charge.

I sort of like HTC and HTC Sense. But I've adjusted. I prefer the much longer battery life on the S3, and the fact that it is half as thick.
I does integrate Facebook contacts with the rest of the contacts.

I also had a Thunderbolt and liked it but had some issues with 4G so I upgraded from it to a Droid Bionic and now have an S3. I don't think you will have a problem with the Samsung UI (my wife uses it on her S3) but I really suggest using a third party launcher and the one I use is Go Launcher. I realy can't think of any downsides to the S3 in comparison to the Thunderbolt. The larger screen really helps with internet accessability. You mention that you use your Thunderbolt for access to internet for other devices. You do not say what carrier you use but most carriers no longer provide unlimited dada if you buy at a discount.

I came from the Thunderbolt. I wanted to get the HTC One X. But it didn't have an interchangeable battery. That was something that my Thunderbolt needed to have. It also didn't have an external SD slot. The S3 has both. After I ordered my S3 I was looking around and decided to wait until I got the S# and use it to see if I needed to get an extra battery. I haven't been powerless in the 3 months I've had the S3. That's something I would never be able to say with my Thunderbolt unless I was carrying a spare battery. My wife decided to go from a feature phone to a smart phone at the same time. She got to S3 and I can't get her off of the thing. I love the Sense UI but I have my own launcher so it doesn't matter. But all in all I love the phone.

I have a Thunderbolt now and want to tether it with the Galaxy Note 10.1 with JB (installed last night - not sure if that was the best idea......) and I noticed you said "I tether the crap out of this phone and it handles all my Internet needs at home and abroad". I'm guessing you do that with your laptop....any idea how to do with with the 10.1? I'm going to start a thread....but saw this when I searched so I figured I'd ask...... Thanks

The Thunderbolt overall was a decent phone. I left VZW and went to TMW for more affordable plan. I picked you the white S3 and am on the TM prepaid plan. The S3 is a powerful phone and 4.8 screen is nice.
