Please help. My galaxy s is showing an error message that reads process com.sec.android.app.twlauncher has stopped unexpectedly. How can I fix this

Hmm, have you tried clearing the App Data for TouchWiz Home?
Settings--> Applications--> Manage--> "All" tab--> locate "TouchWiz Home"--> Clear Data--> Ok
Keep in mind this will reset TouchWiz so anything you've done to the individual Home pages & App Drawer will be erased. No other personal Data will be effected.

Before doing that, if you haven't already, just try rebooting the phone (power down, then turn it back on). It may just be a transient glitch.
