No Internet Connection Following Firmware Upgrade.

I upgraded the firmware on my Galaxy S3 this morning ( to 4.1.2 ).

Since the upgrade, I can no longer connect to the internet when I hot the 'internet icon'

There appears to be no issues connecting to Wi-Fi.

I would welcome any suggestions on how to resolve this.

Welcome to the forums!
Have you tried rebooting into recovery and clearing the cache? A lot of times with OS updates some of the code from the old OS gets in the way of the new.
