Galaxy S3: Question about car chargers

I'm thinking about buying this car charger. I'm very ignorant when it comes to this kind of stuff, so bare with me.

I have two Galaxy S3's I would like to be able to charge on this. But it has an "Apple" and a "Non-Apple" plug. And apparently you're not supposed to plug an android device into the apple plug. But I just can't understand why not.

It says it outputs 4.2A. From what I understand, most android devices will only pull 1.0A. So... would this work or not? Is there harm in doing this?

If this wouldn't work, or it's a bad idea, could someone explain why?

I know that the s3 charger charges at a 1 amp rate, so I personally try to match that rate when purchasing replacement chargers. I'm not sure, but the 4.2 amp may just be the maximum rate, which is regulated by the device.

You could have a 100 amp charger, but the phone will only draw 1 amp or so.
An iPhone can draw as many as 2 amps.

That's what I thought.

So if this car charger is outputting 4.2A, and my 2 phones will each only draw 1 amp, why shouldn't I plug my android device into the 'apple' port?

Might be wired differently. I have no idea how an iPhone is wired.

The S3 as well as the Samsung battery has a built in limit. It will not take in over 1 amp. I have a 2 amp charger in my Truck and have had not problems. Does not charge any faster than the stock charger that came with the phone.

The USB specification allows up to 5A for charging devices, and that device appears to use standard USB ports, so I don't see that there would be any problem.
