    Hi everyone.
I have had my Samsung Galaxy S3 for about 6 months now and it has been working like a charm. I have never dropped it, I have never exposed it to any water not even raindrops outside I have been taking awesome care of it because I didn't take very good care of my last phone and learned my lesson for sure.

About 3 or 4 weeks ago when I would plug my phone in it would have difficulties starting to charge. I am using the charging cord that came with the phone. its just when I plug it in it goes in and out of charge if I move it around or try and text while charging it , it will disconnect even though it was plugged in. I then tried using a different USB cord, and that did not solve the problem either. it would fit and say that its charging but it would only charge if it was kept completely still.

Last night I plugged in my phone when it was already at 83%.. 3 hours later I woke up and noticed I got a notification, so I checked and to my surprise my phone had not gone up in charge at all. I know for sure that my phone had not been knocked off during the night or something, and it said it was charging by showing the little charging symbol in the battery display. I also checked the battery usage and it showed it was indeed charging but it had not gone up in percentage..
I restarted my phone and then plugged it in and fiddled with it until it finally caught charge and showed the symbol and "Charging 85%" was displayed. I then noticed that even when the symbol is on the screen on the battery if it doesnt say "Charging" in writing it isn't actually charging. I left it that way it charged over the next few hours thank goodness..

My question is why is my phone sooo sensitive to any little movement and it falls out of charge? why did it say it was charging yet didn't go up a percentage? And how can I fix this..

    Would appreciate any comments !!

    Hi Ema,
I have just posted this in a similar thread,, try it on yours.

    Re the charging issues.
I had an issue with my S3, not charging, I don't mean slow charging but NOT charging.... the charge icon not showing.
If I moved the charge plug around it would come on and start to charge which indicated a problem at the charging port..
I cleaned out the port (after removing the battery to prevent it shorting) with a needle.
This didn't solve the problem... I took the phone apart to see if there was a break in the connections from the charging port to the circuit board
Unfortunately as the connections are so minute you cant make them out without magnification. So I couldn't rectify it this way

The way I DID solve it was to cut a strip of PLASTIC approx 5mm wide and 30mm long
I used plastic from a milk bottle (empty one of course).
I used plastic because I initially tried cardboard but this kept leaving bits in the charge port.

The strip needs to go into the charge port UNDER the charge connection spade, (the opposite side to the contacts)
What this does is it makes a tighter fit for the charging plug. and it works every time

You can simply use the strip every time you charge the phone but you'd prob end up losing it and having to cut a new strip.
What I did was to take off the back and remove the battery, kink the plastic strip so it fits into the charge port and then bends around to fit inside the phone case behind the battery, relocate the battery which then holds the strip in place. replace the phone cover.
The plastic strip is now held securely.
The charge plug although a little tight to fit in, works 100%

OK this doesn't fix the problem, but if it is the charging port that has worn it is a cheap fix, your alternative is to have a new port fitted.

Another option which I am doing is changing the back cover to a wireless charging one, This has a coil fitted in place and the phone is simply placed on a charging dock and charges wirelessly, which obv removes the need for the charging port to be used.

Hope this works for some of you..
Let me know if it does..

I'd agree with the previous poster that a wireless charging solution is the best way around this issue with the port.

It is possible, particularly if the phone spends a lot of time in a pocket/purse, that gunk has accumulated in the port and that it just needs to be cleaned out. Compressed air is a good start; the needle method may also work (BE SURE TO REMOVE THE BATTERY BEFORE ATTEMPTING!) - there's another thread where a guy did a YouTube video showing how.
