Samsung Galaxy S3 Broken Screen Fading and blacking out

It's been working with a broken screen for a while, but perfectly functional. I had problems with a stuck power button before, but after removing it, the phone was okay.
Now, all of a sudden, when i turn it on it works well for a moment, then the image fades and glitches, like a tv with bad signal. It work for a while with half the screen pretty dark (but still visible) and a few shakes, than it blacks out completely. The phone still rings, alarm still work etc, but screen is totally black.
I need to leave it a while without the battery for the screen to work again after turning on, but only for a few seconds.
Can it be a software glitch or is my screen doomed?

Welcome to the forums!

Based on the wealth of similar posts your screen is doomed. You can purchase a new replacement screen assembly for ~$130, or look for used ones, or just invest the $ in a newer phone.
