Can I charge my Galaxy S3 with a iPhone dock that has 3.3v?

Charge galaxy s3 from 3.3v??

Hi,
I have a car stereo with a iphone dock which i now have a s3 i wanted to take the dock connector off and replace with micro USB but the dock connector only has 3.3v going to it. I see comments about some android docks having 3.3v.

Can i use this to charge and if so what pin on the micro USB do i connect it? the same as where the 5v would be?

Hello and welcome to the forums!

The iPhone dock is proprietary; in order to get a micro-USB configuration working you'll need 5V. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB

Thats what i thought, however I think I might have there is a USB port on the side and it should be easy to take the 5v from there without to much trouble. i will have a go.

You'd be better off buying a new dock and sell yours if you must
