So I paid to get the phone unlocked and I am currently using it on ATT. If someone wants to activate it on Verizon, can they? I know it's a gsm phone, but isn't there a way to change the radio waves?

It's not the waves, it's the electronics in the phone, and the only way to change it is to put in a Verizon motherboard (which wouldn't pay unless you had one and could do the work yourself - which I strongly recommend you not even think of trying, or you'll turn the usable GSM phone into an unusable box of parts).

The radio waves are the same - but it's like someone who only understands Spanish listening to English. Is there some way to change the sound waves? The sound waves (or the radio waves, in the case of the phone) aren't the problem, are they? The phones "speak a different language", and an AT&T phone can't "understand" "Verizonish" (CDMA signals).
