Replacing the mother board on a i535 model?

My wonderful GS3 recently decided to stop charging correctly, and after admittedly far too much fiddling with the cable and port to get it to work, it has stopped charging entirely. Given this, and the fact that I'd rather not shell out for a new phone just yet (waiting for the next wave of phones in April), I figure the easiest way to get it working again is to replace the motherboard with one that has a working charging port.

It's current specs are 'Refurbished model:i535 - 16gb. The carrier is Verizon. I live in the US.

Is there any thing I should know before I head to ebay/craigslist and pick myself up a motherboard/used s3 to replace it with? A quick search on ebay shows a lot of motherboards with the i710/i747 model. Are these viable replacements?

Im clueless about the techincals of the s3, but I'm very handy with a screw driver and read the iFixit dismantle/repair guide.

Thanks!
