I have a 64GB micro sd card in my Galaxy S3 and have had no problems with it the two years since I've had the card. However, about a week ago I was recording a video with my phone and I got an error saying the SD card was unexpectedly removed even though I didn't remove it. The video wasn't saved.

Since then I haven't been able to save anything to the card for very long. It'll save it usually for a few hours or until my phone crashes or is shut off then everything I've saved since the day when I got the error is lost.

Is my SD card broken? Can I fix it? I'm not sure what to do.

I backed up my stuff and tried to format it from my phone and it wouldn't work. Then put the card into my computer and tried to format it and after an hour or so I got an error saying that windows was unable to complete the format. I also can't delete anything off of my card. Is it safe to say my SD card is dead?

    Sounds like it's toast.

I don't suppose you have access to another SD card to try? That'll be the quickest way to determine if it's just the card that you had or if something has gone wrong with the phone itself.

I agree with GSDer. And hey GSDer, it's been a little while--welcome back!
