How do I navigate the same apps, same accounts on two different phones?

The "on" button of my former S3 is broken (so it won't turn on), so my brother and I have switched phones for now - I now have his phone, with my SIM card inserted into it, and he has my phone, with his SIM card inserted into it. I have downloaded the apps I had on the old phone onto the one I am using now and have logged into them with my login information. My question is, how will these apps be impacted when the old phone is fixed and my brother is able to turn it on? Will both phones receive notifications from these apps? If so, is there any way to override this and ensure that only my current phone receives notifications from the apps?

If the apps require you to log in and sync, then yes, there will be changes to those apps. If the apps are changed and saved locally, then no, nothing will change on the broken S3.
