How to turn off auto scrolling to new messages in group texts

I have a group message ongoing with a bunch of friends but i am constantly struggling to keep up because anytime someone sends a message my screen jumps to the bottom to show me the new message, how can i turn off this annoying auto scrolling?

I am also having this issue. It is hard to read group texts which come in 5 at a time when you can't scroll up to read the previous messages. Anyone solve this yet?
