S4 Active distorted sound on Pandora after Lollipop update.

We all know Pandora doesn't have the best sound quality but since the Lollipop update, Pandora is almost unlistenable. It sounds like a digital scratchy sound like some part of it is being processed at a lower sampling rate. It was clear on Kit Kat. I have enabled high quality in the Pandora app and even tried reinstalling it. I think it may be something in the way Lollipop is handling AAC decoding. It has even become worse after listening for a while to the point that it no longer sounds like music.
anyone else hearing this?
