My Nexus 5 just bit the dust (power button issues), and due to time constraints I was forced to purchase a new Galaxy S4. In using the Nexus 5, I learned to love Google's Messaging app and would love to use it on my S4. I've looked online and see I should be able to change the default message app through Settings > Network Connects > More networks > Default Messaging App.

Unfortunately, this doesn't show on my phone (see attached image). I have an unlocked S4 using with Straight Talk (AT&T network).

Welcome to Android Central! You shouldn't have to do it within the System Settings. The first time you open Google Messenger, it should ask you if you want to use it as your default SMS app. If you decline, you can still go to the Google Messenger app's settings, and tap Default SMS App, then change that to Google Messenger.

Happy New Year!
