SD Card not reading

I installed a micro sd card tonight (16gb) into my galaxy s4 mini but I am still getting the message saying I am almost out of storage ? like its not reading it at all,
does anyone know what else to try at all or is there a setting i am supposed to change for it to read it etc.

That is probably internal storage that is getting full. What do you have on there?
