Galaxy s4 mini got wet, now will not stay in sleep mode.

I got my Galaxy s4 mini wet this week, and now it will not stay in sleep mode, it instantly wakes itself back up. The phone works well otherwise, but it is obviously draining my battery rather fast. Is there anything I can do to fix this myself, or can it even be fixed by a professional? Or will I have to get a new phone.

And if it hasn't been cleaned in a week, about the only parts that are still good are probably the plastic parts, so start saving your money, use it until it dies, offer it to a local shop for parts and experimenting (phones like that are good for teaching new techs how to replace the glass on the screen - you can't kill a corpse) and decide which phone you're going to buy next. (And invest 2 cents in a baggie.)
